(Q - 1) What requirements do I have to meet to become a volunteer?
Everyone is welcome! It doesn't matter whether are in the middle of your studies, in between jobs or come from a completely different field. The main thing is that you are over 18 years old and a team player – specific skills or prior experience are not a pre-condition.
Please note that, due to Swiss regulatory requirements, we are unfortunately unable to collaborate with applicants who are not citizens of the EU or EFTA countries (EFTA countries include Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). In case you already hold a Swiss residency or work permit, the previous does not apply.

(Q - 2) Do I get full access to the entire health.tech global summit?
Yes, outside your volunteering shift you can explore the entire event, join the speeches, afterparty and exhibition area.As a volunteer you will get your event ticket for free – in exchange to your contribution as a volunteer.
(Q - 3) Which kind of time commitment is expected?
Together, we will shape health.tech to an unforgettable event. As a volunteer, you will contribute to this by 12 – 14 hours, distributed over two shifts. So there will be plenty of time to explore the event as a participant.
(Q - 4) Where will I be assigned as a volunteer?
There will be different stations. From social media & photography, backstage, logistics over to check in, and many more. If you have a preferred station or specific skills you’d like to use or develop, let us know — we’ll do our best to match your skills with the adequate station so you get the most out of the experience. At the end of your engagement, you will receive a certificate which you can use for your next job application.
(Q - 5) I am not living in Basel. Do you support with accommodation?
We are very happy when volunteers living outside of Basel area become part of our international volunteer community. We support you in two ways to find places to stay during the event:
- With our vivid volunteer couch surfing group
- by reserving shared flats (limited availability) and offering access to partner hotel rates
However, no travel or accommodation costs for volunteers can be covered.

(Q - 6) Is this a paid role?
This is a voluntary role. Volunteers are not employed and do not replace paid positions. The intention is to create an opportunity for learning, networking & experience. Food and drinks are provided free of charge for volunteers during the events.
